0 <br />r <br />• Public Safety Study Group Minutes - 2 <br />November 10, 1992 <br />Robert Hawley, Roseville Juvenile Officer, gave a brief overview of <br />his job and typicai activities. Some of the highlights are: <br />- Typical contact is relates to thefts. First time <br />offenders are normally diverted; i.e. they must do <br />community service. Most parents are cooperative. <br />- Violent criminals often come from aut of tawn -- inner <br />city. <br />- Curb some {hangout) lacations thraugh increased <br />visibility and quick response. <br />- Gang activities does not seam to be as prevalent as in <br />other suburbs. <br />- The visibility of police and assertive apprehension help <br />keep juveniie problems down. <br />Loren Rasand, Schoal Liaison Officer, qave a short presentation. <br />He views his job as a helper for the schaol, students and city in <br />general. He believes increased education, efforts and explaining <br />cansequences of actions will heip decrease juvenile crime.
