<br />Special City Council Meeting -10/31106 <br />Minutes - Page 8 <br /> <br />Mayor Klausing questioned the ability for the Council to schedule <br />a meeting and allow time for discussion at that time, given the <br />scheduled activities around the interview process. <br /> <br />Additional discussion included possible meeting times for <br />discussion; number of candidates to test; and adequate notice to <br />testing firms; efficiencies of testing for candidates. <br /> <br />After further discussion, Councilmember Maschka opined his <br />support for testing all six candidates. <br /> <br />Ms. Bacon advised that, if the Council consensus was to test all <br />candidates, she would coordinate testing around their interview <br />schedules on Thursday and Friday, November 16 and 17. <br /> <br />Councilmember Ihlan opined her lack of support, in principle, for <br />testing all six candidates, and advised that she would not support a <br />motion to do so. <br /> <br />Councilmember Pust opined that it made more sense to only test <br />those candidates making the top two; however, recognized the <br />logistical issues. <br /> <br />Additional discussion ensued regarding number of candidates to <br />test; timing for testing; potential meeting times for additional <br />Council discussion following interviews; input from internal and <br />external interview panels; previous practice for City Manager <br />vacancy. <br /> <br />Ms. Bacon reviewed the previous process for the last City <br />Manager vacancy, and the internal/external panels' list of pros and <br />cons for each candidate as compiled; with Ms. Bacon suggesting <br />that she could provide a summary of those comments for all <br />Councilmembers the following Monday and any clear <br />recommendations from the panels, for additional information for <br />Council review and consideration. <br /> <br />Mayor Klausing suggested adhering to the proposed schedule <br />outlined by Ms. Bacon, with additional City Council discussion <br />the following Monday, November 20, and an ultimate decision at <br />
