ROSEVILI,E RF.SI�EN7E' SURVEY <br />Tim Pratt, Communications Specialist at the City of Roseville, was responsible for <br />questionnaire design_ The yuestionnaire was developed in consultation with and using <br />consensus approval of the Residential Solid Waste and Recycling Citi7en Advisory <br />Committee. Christine Butteriield, Roseville Assistant City Manager, and Rossana Armson, <br />MCSR, both provided feedback and suggestion5. <br />Questions were asked regarding the services the city provides for recycling and garbage <br />collection. In addition, residents were asked questions about the disposal of housel�old <br />hazardous waste, the disposal of appliances and other electronic items, and the disposal of <br />yard waste, leaves and brush. There were two versions of the survey: one for single-family <br />residents and one for multi-family residents. The multi-family survey amitted questions <br />about recycling services provided by the City of Raseville and about the disposal of yard <br />waste, leaves and brush, that were not relevant for multi-family households. <br />SAMPLING DESIGN <br />Carolyn Curti, Communications Specialist at the City of Roseville, was responsible for the <br />sarnpling design. The GIS Specialist and the Technology Manager within the City of <br />Roseville pro�vided necessary information. A total of S00 dweliing units were selected for the <br />sample, 585 (73%) from single-family dwellings (those with 8 or fewer units) and 215 (27°l0) <br />from multi-family dwellings (those with 9 or rnore units). Of the single-family dweilings, <br />8$% were residences that were homesteaded and 12% were not homesteaded. The single- <br />family dwelling sample was chosen by City-wide random sampling. T7�e mult�-family <br />dwelling saznple design was a random sampling within each of the City's fQUrteen <br />developrnent districts that have multi-family dwellings, based on population size. <br />DATA COLLECT�ON PROCEDURE5 <br />The procedures used by MCSR for this mail survcy were based on Ma;l ar,r� TP1Pnh�nP <br />�IilY�ys, by Don A. Dillman. Mailing and data collection for the Roseville Resident Survey <br />were conducted from January 2 to February 12, 2Q02_ <br />►�. �. . .� <br />The first mailing was sent on January 2, 2002 and included the following: {1) a cover letter <br />from John Kysylyczyn, Mayor of the City af Roseville, inviting participation in the survey, <br />(2) a survey instrurnent, and (3) a self-addressed, stamped return envelopc to return the <br />survey to MCSR_ <br />The second mailing consisted of a reminder postcard, which was sent on January 9, 2(}02. <br />The postcard thanked individuals if they had already filled out the questionnaire, and asked <br />them to take time to complete the snrvey i� they had not already done so. <br />MTNNESOTA CENTER FOR SURVEY R�S�:ARCN Pt1GE 2 <br />
