In compliance with the Waste Management Act and later amend- <br />ments to the Act, the Metrapolitan Council has provided a <br />Regional Guide/Policy Plan for waste abatement and cessatian <br />�f current landfill practices, and Ramsey County has <br />produced a preliminary Solid Waste Management Master Plan. <br />Roseville will be required to meet County waste reduction <br />and source separatian goals. If such goals are nat met, the <br />County has the authority to impose mandatory source separa- <br />tion. <br />RECOMMENDATIONS <br />1a. Roseville should encourage Ramsey County to finalize its <br />Solid Waste Management Master P�.an as promptly as practical; <br />that incJ.udes residential source separation goals and resi- <br />dential waste reduction goals. <br />CONCLUSION: ROSEVILLE'S CURRENT PRACTICES <br />2. Curren�. residential waste management practices in Roseville <br />� will not enable the City to meet waste reduction and souree <br />separation goals of Ramsey County's preliminary Solid Waste <br />Management Masfi.er Plan. <br />� <br />RECOMMENDATION <br />� 2a. Roseville should develop a comprehensive p1.an to compJ.y with <br />waste reduction and source separation goals established by <br />the Metropo�itan Council and Ramsey County. <br />� <br />CONCLUS��N <br />� 2.1 Household hazardous wastes present a threat to the environ- <br />ment when taken to landfills, are not acceptable at the RDF <br />plant, and are hazardous to citizens when stored in garages <br />� or houses.
