<br />City Council Regular Meeting -11/27/06 <br />Minutes - Page 9 <br /> <br />Maschka moved, Pust seconded, TABLING action on the Draft <br />Final Alternative Urban Area-wide Review (AUAR) Update <br />Document for the Twin Lakes Business Park. <br /> <br />Roll Call <br />Ayes: Pust; Kough; Maschka; Ihlan and Klausing. <br />Nays: None. <br /> <br />9. <br /> <br />Consider Appointment Process for Vacancies on Advisory <br />Commissions <br />Considerable discussion was held, with an attempt at consensus, <br />on how best to provide guidance to staff for the City's six <br />advisory commissions, term expirations, vacancies, those eligible <br />for reappointment or those not seeking reappointment; and the <br />appointment process itself. <br /> <br />Vacancies include: <br /> <br />Commission Positions to Fill <br />Ethics I <br />Human Rights I <br />Parks & Recreation 4 <br />Planning 4 <br />Police Civil Service I <br />Public Works, Environment, and Transnortation 2 <br /> <br />Mr. Miller noted that Scott Higbee of the Human Rights <br />Commission would not be applying for reappointment; and <br />Richard Jacobson of the Parks & Recreation Commission was not <br />eligible for reappointment. <br /> <br />Mayor Klausing noted that the Ethic commission had just been <br />appointed. <br /> <br />Discussion included eligibility status of current commissioners; <br />term limits (2 full terms); and whether to reappoint those eligible <br />or require reapplication of current commissioners. <br /> <br />Councilmember Ihlan expressed her preference that incumbents <br />eligible for reappointment make application for consideration with <br />new candidates; not guaranteeing an automatic reappointment; <br />possibly with the exception of the Ethics Commission at this time. <br /> <br />Appointment <br />Process <br />Commission <br />Vacancies <br />
