<br />City Council Regular Meeting -12/04/06 <br />Minutes - Page 16 <br /> <br />Mr. Brokke requested that Councilmember Kough provide him <br />with the requested names and phone numbers in order to make <br />contact and comply with the request. <br /> <br />5. <br /> <br />Consider Appointing Representatives to a <br />Committee for Concept Plan Development <br />Reconstruction of Rice Street <br />Public Works Director Duane Schwartz reviewed background <br />information related to initial planning by Ramsey County for <br />reconstruction of Rice Street from Highway 36 to County Road J, <br />with anticipated segment construction beginning within the next <br />2-3 years. Mr. Schwartz noted the boundary of Rice Street for <br />various communities, and the request of Ramsey County for those <br />communities to provide advisory representatives to recommend <br />goals and objectives in meeting the needs of the corridor; and <br />designing a road to meet future transportations needs over the next <br />5 -10 years. <br /> <br />Technical <br />for the <br /> <br />Mr. Schwartz anticipated that the process would begin in January <br />of 2007; and that four representatives were being sought from the <br />City of Roseville, possibly consisting of a staff representative, <br />elected officials, the business community, and residents; with <br />concept plans then being presented to respective City Councils for <br />acceptance. <br /> <br />Mr. Schwartz anticipated, with Council approval, that staff would <br />share responsibility for attending meetings (i.e., Public Works and <br />Community Development Departments); and suggested that the <br />Council consider a representative-pool from among the Public <br />Works, Environment and Transportation (PWET) Commission; <br />citizens with transportation background or expertise; business <br />representatives along the Rice Street corridor; or others as <br />apparent. <br /> <br />Discussion included potential candidates to serve; how to proceed <br />with appointment; and/or how to seek those interested. <br /> <br />Councilmember Pust noted that the City was currently seeking <br />applications for commission vacancies; and suggested since this <br />was not a long-standing advisory commission, that the application <br /> <br />Consider <br />Appointing <br />Representatives to <br />a Technical <br />Committee for <br />Concept Plan <br />Development for <br />the Reconstruction <br />of Rice Street <br />
