Roseville Human Rights Commission <br />Meeting Minutes — December 12, 2006 <br />Page 4 oi b <br />existed. <br />Generic Complaint Form <br />Commissioners reiterated their previous comments on the need for a gencric camplaini form and <br />pracess for residents to follow. <br />Commissioner Venters opined that such a process would be a polite way to "p�t the ba11 back in <br />their court" for neighhors to achieve a solution; further opining that a government solution wasn't <br />always needed. <br />Cify Manager Selection Process discussion <br />Commissioner McGehee expresscd her personal issucs and conccrns with the present selection <br />proccss for City Managcr in thc Ciiy of Roscville. <br />HRC Cammissioner Interview Process <br />Commissioner Higbee opined ihat the appointment process was a CiTy Council decision. <br />Cammissioner Crump opined that, at a minimum, a representative of the HRC should be present <br />and be asked for their input prior to the City Council making their appointmcnt; and further opined <br />that permission of the City Council should be sought to have a representative present. <br />Comnussioners reiteraied previous discussions on the need to have younger representatives on thc <br />HRC. <br />Comrnissioner Higbee advised that he was still awaiting a ca11 �ack from the school regarding his <br />previous contact regardi.ng suggestions for a youth representative. <br />High School Activities <br />Considerable discussion was held regarding working with the Rosevillc 11rea High School on gang <br />and diversity issues. <br />Foram Update — Pam <br />Commissioner Bosch advised that she had an opportunity to rneet with Ann Phibbs, the GLTB <br />outreach coordinator at U of MN, xegarding how to bring training and discussion to the community. <br />Commissioner Bosck� noted that Ms. Phibbs was �nore than willing to bring someonc in to do Allied <br />Training for the HRC, as well as the City Council and staff, as interested. <br />Commissioner I3osch sought Comrriission interest in recciving Allicd Training #or the IIRC; and <br />explained the training further, as it related to inclusivity and diversiiy issues, or "safe space" <br />txaining. <br />Commissioner McGehee opiued that the City`s Police Department needed to reccive such fi.raining. <br />Commissioner Bosch opined that the training could bc brought to many different areas of the <br />community, including schools; and noted that there was no fee. <br />
