<br />City Council Regular Meeting - 12/18/06 <br />Minutes - Page 2 <br /> <br />Former Mayor Dan Wall, thanked Mr. Maschka for his years of <br />service; recognized his years of service with Councilmember <br />Maschka during a time of lots of development; and opined that <br />Councilmember Maschka's contributions were incredible; and the <br />City was well served by Mr. Maschka's leadership and numerous <br />contributions, and the groundwork he perfonned on numerous <br />issues now having come to fruition. <br /> <br />Polly Franke, fonner Councilmember, opined that the City of <br />Roseville had benefited, along with Councilmember Maschka's <br />benefit from the experience as well; and thanked Mrs. Maschka <br />and their family for the sacrifices they had made on behalf of <br />Dean's service to the community. Ms. Franke further opined that <br />Mr. Maschka had done a "good job" and would be missed, and <br />observed that Mr. Maschka could join the ranks of former <br />Councilmembers and Mayors who would continue to monitor, as <br />residents, the work of sitting City Councils. <br /> <br />Mayor Klausing, on behalf of the City Council, observed that he <br />would now become the "most senior" member on the City <br />Council; and noted Councilmember Maschka's institutional <br />memory during many Council discussions, and recognizing that it <br />would be hard to replace that. Mayor Klausing opined that <br />Councilmember Maschka would be missed; and noted that the <br />mark of a good Councilmember was the ability to disagree and <br />still hold the person in high esteem, and recognizing in hindsight <br />the wisdom of different stances. Mayor Klausing thanked <br />Councilmember Maschka for his wisdom and maintaining good <br />relationships with fellow Councilmembers; and wished him all the <br />best. <br /> <br />4.a Recognition of the Returning Soldiers from the 147th Returning <br />Finance Detachment National Guard Unit stationed at National Guard <br />the National Guard Armory at 211 North McCarrons Soldiers <br />Boulevard in Roseville <br />Mayor Klausing welcomed the returning soldiers from the <br />14th Finance Detachment National Guard Unit, stationed in <br />Roseville, and expressed the City Council's and <br />community's pleasure at their return. Mayor Klausing <br />expressed his enthusiasm in being with them when they <br />were deployed, and the even greater enthusiasm for their <br />
