<br />City Council Regular Meeting - 12/18/06 <br />Minutes - Page 25 <br /> <br />Discussion included various components of the project, and those <br />that may be eliminated due to budget constraints and any impacts <br />to immediate proposed improvements; potential creation of a <br />lower level space underneath the new lobby and additional cost <br />projections; restroom expansion; lobby expansion; views of <br />various elevations; proposed exterior materials and cost <br />considerations; built in contingency (5%); and current budget and <br />potential refinement. <br /> <br />Mr. Busch anticipated completion of the construction documents <br />in January of 2007; bidding prepared by late January or early <br />February of2007, and proposed construction timeframe from May <br />- September of2007. <br /> <br />Kough moved, Pust seconded, adoption of the Roseville Skating <br />Center concept plan as presented, for the south entryway and <br />restroom remodeling project as presented in the Staff Report dated <br />December 18, 2006. <br />Roll Call <br />Ayes: Ihlan; Kough; Pust; Maschka and Klausing. <br />Nays: None. <br /> <br />Mr. Brokke noted that the bids would come to the City Council at <br />a future date. <br /> <br />Mr. Brokke referred the City Council to his memo dated <br />December 13, 2006 as part of the staff report dated December 18, <br />2006, providing an update on his research to-date on the <br />geothermal progress for the Roseville Skating Center/Arena <br />project. Mr. Brokke anticipated further discussion with the City <br />Council at their January 2007 Study Session with additional <br />information on initial costs and long-term cost-savings potential, <br />as well as a potential presentation by a firm specializing in <br />geothermal technology. <br /> <br />Councilmember Kough noted the new technology currently being <br />installed at rinks in Rochester, Albert Lea and Austin; and <br /> <br />Councilmember Ihlan expressed appreciation to Mr. Brokke for <br />his investigation of new technology and potential implementation <br />
