City Council Regular Meeting - 12/18/06 Minutes - Page 25 Discussion included various components of the project, and those that may be eliminated due to budget constraints and any impacts to immediate proposed improvements; potential creation of a lower level space underneath the new lobby and additional cost projections; restroom expansion; lobby expansion; views of various elevations; proposed exterior materials and cost considerations; built in contingency (5%); and current budget and potential refinement. Mr. Busch anticipated completion of the construction documents in January of 2007; bidding prepared by late January or early February of2007, and proposed construction timeframe from May - September of2007. Kough moved, Pust seconded, adoption of the Roseville Skating Center concept plan as presented, for the south entryway and restroom remodeling project as presented in the Staff Report dated December 18, 2006. Roll Call Ayes: Ihlan; Kough; Pust; Maschka and Klausing. Nays: None. Mr. Brokke noted that the bids would come to the City Council at a future date. Mr. Brokke referred the City Council to his memo dated December 13, 2006 as part of the staff report dated December 18, 2006, providing an update on his research to-date on the geothermal progress for the Roseville Skating Center/Arena project. Mr. Brokke anticipated further discussion with the City Council at their January 2007 Study Session with additional information on initial costs and long-term cost-savings potential, as well as a potential presentation by a firm specializing in geothermal technology. Councilmember Kough noted the new technology currently being installed at rinks in Rochester, Albert Lea and Austin; and Councilmember Ihlan expressed appreciation to Mr. Brokke for his investigation of new technology and potential implementation
