Mr. Malinen suggested this method would allow the Council's goals to be consistent and aligned with the community's visioning process; and sought Council direction and a possible time frame. Councilmember Ihlan expressed her preference for weeknight meetings, limiting the length of the meetings to allow more productivity; and time between meetings to allow reflection and process mg. Mayor Klausing expressed his preference for Saturday meetings to avoid weeknight family schedule conflicts, and in an effort to allow for more productivity during a daytime meeting, rather than following a work day. Councilmember Pust, with the caveat that a discussion regarding norms was held and resolved before them, expressed her willingness to attend either evening or Saturday meetings, suggesting a compromise of one evening meeting and one Saturday meeting. Councilmember Kough was flexible with his schedule, with the exception of Saturdays in March when he would not be available. Councilmember Roe was flexible with his schedule for several evenings or a Saturday; and encouraged that goals be established well within the first quarter of the year. Mayor Klausing encouraged adoption of goals more immediately to allow staff to develop their work plans. Discussion included preferred time of day; number of meetings; status of the visioning report and the need to review and digest that report prior to setting goals; status of Ann Carroll's contract and cost for her facilitating a special session; potential use of steering committee members to work with the Council on the community visioning components and intents.
