CResent Activities: The City has been reviewing budgets wzth a fi.ne tooth <br />comb. Out of cnncern that oux budget would be elimina�ed, Joyce and Jim <br />attended the Council meeting Monday, November 24. Jan Schultz and Mary <br />Meyer were also going to send emails to the Council members. Jim did speek <br />at rhe mee�ing. Tnm Kough, council_ member, spoke in supporC of our group. <br />In the past, we have been told that $G000 were set aside for our needs. With the help of Tom and Eduardo, i.n Costa Rica, �hey <br />home-stayed with a family. Kia wanted a chance to improve her Spanish and <br />stzadow some one in the medical field. We are not sure how much shadowing she <br />was able to do as Eduardo had a full schedule of sightseeing lined up. Kia <br />did take our sewing machine down and presented it to �ormal.Iy to Dona Maritza. <br />At the time of our meeting, Kia was studying for rests, so we have not beeen <br />able Co talk ro her since her reeurn. Kia was given $75 to take her host family <br />to dinner. (The money came from Joyce's employment as a Carecash donation. She <br />wi71 be 1_etting know how the money was spent and thanking ttiem.) Tom said <br />�here may be some one else going down in the near future. <br />5. Information ltems: Tom pres�nted information on S�nsei Yonsei Kai, a 3rd and <br />4th generation of Japenese-American of Japanese-American children and adult <br />dance group. There may be a possi_bility of future opportunities to connect. <br />6.
