City of Roseville Rosevi�le Sister Cit Association Minutes July 18,2000 Present: Joyce and �ames Boarson, Patty DeBruycker, Jan Schultz, Tom Turba Minutes: I. The parade went fairly smoothly. There were some minor mishaps. Time was spent discussing how they could be avoided next year. Unfortunately, we were not able to f.ind some one willing to donate a"�ractor", requiring additional expense. 2. No treasurer's report was available. Tom completed and sen� in the annual reg�stration for our non-profit status. 3. Shinmachi: A Thank-You was received from the family given a donation. The City Council announced support of a Japanese Garden in the aboratum park area. We will be chec�ing witih Como Park and Normandale College for assistance on ideas, etc. Four students and 2 adults are curraitZyin Japan for home-srays. The Japanese group will be arriving an Augus� 4, staying for approximaCely 10 days. The group will include 1Q students, 2 teachers, the mayor and school superintendan�. There w�ll be a dinner at Northwester Callege Blue Room to celebrate the 10 year anniversary of our relationship with Shinmachi on August 6. 4. Costa Rica: Our Frzendsnip-City meeting at the Oval in June went we11. Tom was able to sell one "Art on rhe Road" book. There are more books if any one is in- terested in purchasing one. The basketball team activities were cancealed due to lack of information 4 weeks pria� to the Great American Shoot-Out. Holly Young is working with Ivonne on an exchange next suly. No current infarmation was available. We also do nor know which group would come/go first. We still need a home-stay for one month for a 24 y/o Cartago student who would �ike to improve her Eng]ish. She is currently a college student majoring in English and is a manager a� a McDonalds restruant. 5he needs a 2 month notice to pre- pare for coming up here. 6.
