City of Roseville <br />Rosevi�le Sistr City Association <br />June 6, 2000 - Minutes <br />Present: Joyce and James Boardson, Jan Schultz, Caro� Stark <br />Guest: Paul Me11um <br />Minutes: <br />1. Paul Mellum, from the MN. Amatuer 5ports Commission, was introduced. Efforts <br />have been made by Joyce, Jim, and Tom since January to find out if Cartago is <br />sending a basketball team. Deadlines have come and gone. When faxes do arrive, <br />we have heen left more and more confused. On Monday, June.S, Tom received a <br />fax stating that £our Ceams would be coming, with over 50 people arxiving. <br />Consequently, Paul was �nvited to our meet�ng to find out wha� services would be <br />available from the Great American Shoot Out to help with so many, so late. <br />The "Shoot Out" staff can help with hotel lists, transporta�ion to and from the <br />airport, and info such as were to get car rental. However, they are not able to <br />provide transportation to and from the game sites. <br />Joyce stated that things are gett�ng too confusing and requested that a phone <br />call be made to Costa Rica to clarify many issues. Tom will calZ Costa Rica. <br />2. Carol presented treasury issues. A$100 gift will be donated to one of the <br />£oundi�g families of the Shinmachi group due to a death in the family. <br />3. We were awarded a$2,500 grant from the Roseville Community Fund to be used for <br />the 5hinmachi exchange this year. No other news on Shinmachi was available. <br />4. In addition to the basketha�l teams, Tom mention that there is a 24-26 year <br />oXd man and woman that would like to come for one month. The young man will be <br />coming in January and stay with the Reiling family. The young woman would like <br />to come in July. Time not allowing to £ind a host, the time has been changed <br />to Aug./Sept. A host family is still needed. If you know any one whom may be <br />interested in hosting, please let Tom know. <br />S. Due to Iow �ember attendance and bus� s�hedules (also k�ow a� many rods in the <br />fire!!), no addxtional issues were discussed. <br />5.
