Roseville Sister City Association <br />Minutes of April 4, 200d <br />Present: Jim and Joyce Boardson, Pat DeBruycker, Jan 5chulCz, Carol Stark, Barb <br />Sackman, John Stities, Tom and Virginia Turba <br />Minutes: <br />1, Insurance: No new informativn was obtained. Joyce will try to place some <br />cails. <br />2. Treasure: There is approximaCe�y 3,000.00 in savings and 2,000.00 in checking. <br />A significant amount, which is Shinmachi's will be needed to help fund this <br />summer's Anniversary dinner and exchange celebrations. <br />3. Shinmachi: There are currently 3 students and 2 adults interested in going to <br />Japan this sumaner. The date is July 16 to 30. There will be I7 coming from <br />Japan as there will be a delegation of 5 officials tn celebrate the lOth year <br />with Shinmachi. Unfortunately, Shinmachi has not given us firm dates, making <br />reservation the diner increasingly more difficult. John submitted a request <br />for a grant from the Roseville Co�munity Fund. It was generally turned down <br />except for possibly getting 500.0� to support the diner. <br />4. Costa Rica: Two soccer teams from the Cartago area are coming for the USA Cup. <br />There will be 6 additional teams from the San Jose area. {After tihe meeting, <br />it was learned that the USA Cup wi11 be providing transportation the Mal1 of Am., <br />and other places for the partl�ipanCs.} Cartago teams will be staying in the <br />dorms, so we wi11 not have gxeat involvement needs. Apparently', a bus will also <br />meet them at the airport. <br />It now sounds like there could also be a basketball team coming the following <br />week. (Soccer is the week vf Ju1y 16 - 23, and basketball is Ju1y 26, with <br />the team usually arriving on Monday, July 24.) The committee decided that this <br />year we must put requirerments on advance notice. Cartago must let us know by <br />April 28 who is coming and what their age is. There will be a limit of 10 <br />studenCs and 2 adulrs since larger groups are difficult to handle for eranspor- <br />tation, etc. <br />5. Future Actiivities: The Costa Rica dinner meeting will be June 22 (Thurs.} at <br />the Ova�, starting at 6:3Q. Tom has been working to coordinate this. We need <br />to Iovk at developing folders, video, etc. for it. Joyce is hopefull we will <br />not be at the end of rhe parade this year. Cookies, ice crean, and pop are <br />again planned. Barb offered to help with the coaky making, which is greatly <br />appreciated. John is working on �he arrangemenCs for the Japanese dinner. We <br />will be needing interpretors, among other needs. <br />6.
