City of Roseville Roseville 5ister Citv Association March 7, 2000 Present: James and Joyce Boardson, John Stiles, Tom and Virginia Turba Minutes: 1. Action items: Joyce has contacted 12 Roseville businesses and found 5 that have some type of fund raising program. Tom also reported that we couZd Seii Super America gas coupons. Patti AeBruycker is plann�ng to have a garage sale in ApriZ tio fund raise for this summer's Shinmachi tr�p. • No new info on insurance for our group exchange. Tom has sent a letter describ- ing our activities and inviting participaCion by the Roseville High School Student Council. 2. Treasurer's report: �at available. 3. Shinmachi: The anticipated number of students to travel to Shinmachi this sum- mer is down to one. This �s noC enough to send a group. If more participants do not occur and we receive monies from the Roseville Community Fund Grant, the money ��i1 be applied towards the banquet for officials in August. 3. Costa Rica: At the Cime of our meeting, it sounded Xike 2-3 teams from Cartago planned to come for the soccer tournaments zn July, and no basketball team would come. However, at the time I am submitting this report, 2 soccer teams from Cartago plan to come, using the dorms in Blaine. Also, there is apparently is still some consideration in Cartago of sending a basketball team (which would fol�ow the week of soccex!). In past discussions, we have said that we musC have info on the basketball much sooner this ye�ar, or we could not host. Stay tuned!!!! 4. Future Activites: The yearly Costa Rican dinner is tentatively set for June 22. A cash bar is anticipated, along wiCh the need for securiCy. Jim and Joyce will lead the Rosefest parade activ�tes for S.C. again.-- Hopefully, we wi11 be at the front of the line this year. Cookies, ice cream, and pop wil continue Co be incluaed. Several members think incZuding music this year would be nice. The dinner for the Japanese officials, celebrating 10 years for the Shinmachi group is still not know for time due to communicaCion problems. Patte DeBruycker is planning to have a garage sale for found raising to supporC the Shinmachi exchange. Donations are being requested - with much appreciation. Sznce we are nonprofit, donation slips can be received. 5. Ongoing business: Rosev��le has ofier to host a web site for us. �und raising- as mentioned. John also has many T-shirCs to sell. No progress on a book show- ing what we have done. The suggest�on was made that we might be able to make a video of what we have done. 6. Next meeting - Tuesday, Apri1 4, 6:30 at City HaIY.
