City of Roseville International Sister Citv Association Minutes November_5; 1997 Present: James and JoyCe Bvardson, Martha Hardesty� Stew Roberts, Kris Simonson, Tom and Virginia Tuiba. Minutes: 1: Action items from last meeting: Tom has not been able to work on the deve= lopment of the receipts any further at this time. 2. Treasure's report: Carole Stark is willing to do th.e treasurery books. MarCha wi11 transfer to w��king on the scrap baok (below). Mai.tha will see that John Kilian gets our state exemption number foz purthases. 3. Shinmachi: Letters are being received from the�students who visited here thfs Iast summer. No news ava�.lahle on the information sheet for the library. 4. Costa Rica:. The C.R. Consulate will be doing an article on the three Mara- thon runners. Joyce will check if fiain City MaraChon has any videos available. There is a twenty year old young lady who would like to spend about 3-4 months in Minnesota to help improve hez English. She wi11 be going ta Calif. with her family to visit, and then would like to come here,�mid-January. She is Hopeful that she could teach Spanish at one of the local schools. She wil� need housing. Could any one assist her? Rris Simonson works at Breck School • and may be able to give some assistance. Kris and Stew know an outfitter for rafting in Costa Rica, Ray McLane. E- mail is available. Jim thought this might be a good promotional opportunity. For those going to C.R. for elections in Feb:, the consult advises that you come the Friday before so you can have time wiCh tihe family on the weekend. 5. Community Activities: Martha volu�teered to make signs for the display case at City Hall. 6. Ongoing Bus�.ness: Martha volunteered to work on a scrap boolc about the activities �rhich Sister Ci.ty has done. She will need pictures donated by every one, so look at yaur piles of pictures and bring intaresting pictures to the next meeting. Joyce mentioned that when,we have activies,and get�a _ newspaper repoter to cover it, there is'-no�:always a photographez availabe. The papers'are vexy interested in using pictures we can provide them.
