• Develop and impleznent a formalized recruitment and marketing progam to <br />ensure RFD has a continual pool of quality applicants for membership. <br />• Develop and implement competitive pay and benefit practices. Conduct a review <br />of pay and benefits for firefighters and zecorr�mend adjustrnents to remain a <br />competitive employer of part-time workers. <br />Action Plan <br />AP 2.39 Achieve staffing goal with a minimum complement of 12 daytime available, <br />and 12 nighttirne available firefighters, per district, and maintain no less that 10 <br />daytimelnighttime, per district. PRIORITY 2. <br />AP 2.40 Create a separate Recruitment Committee, ailowing retention issues to be <br />addressed by a senior chief. PRIORITY a. <br />AP 2.41 It shall be the goal of the Recruitment Committee to hire a minizzzum of 6 <br />recruit fuefighters annually, as needed. PRYOI2ITY 2. <br />AP 2.42 Recruitment Committee should gage h�ring with upcozx�ing retirem.ents. It <br />should also be their goal to recruit fire fighters that will have Iongevity with the <br />department. PRIORITY 2. <br />AP 2.43 It shall be the goal to maintain fircfghter turnover to less than 15°/a (fifteen <br />percent) annually, exclusive of full-service pension retirements. PRIORITY 2. <br />AP 2.44 The Recruitment Committee should scck to expand ways to get information <br />to the public about eznployrnent opportunities with the �re department. <br />PRIORITY 2. <br />AP 2.45 The Recruitment Committee should establish an exit interviewing process <br />for a11 retiring or quitting members. PRIOR�TY 3. <br />AP 2.46 The Recruitment Committee shall host a minimum of two recruitrnent <br />meetings each month (one daytime, one evening) to serve as an orientation for <br />prospective members. PRIORITY 3. <br />AP 2.47 The Recruitment Committee shall host a minimum of four external <br />recruitment sessions (job fairs) each year to serve as an oricntation for prospective <br />members. PRI�RiTY 3. <br />AP 2.48 The Recruitment CommiEtee shall establish tirnclines and deadlines for each <br />step in the hiring process foz each fiscal year. PRIORITY 4. <br />AP 2.49 RFD obtain the approval, cornrnitment and financial <br />supuort from Counc�l to ensure the pav and benefits provided to <br />firef hters is a ro riate and that the fire de artment becomes and <br />remains, a competitive employer.
