<br />Roseville City Council <br />Minutes of 1/29/07 Pg 7 of 38 <br /> <br />3.e Approve Janitorial Services Contract <br />Councilmember Kough spoke in support of all contracts going out for <br />bid, specifically including a full maintenance package including peri- <br />odic carpet and window cleaning. <br />Mayor Klausing reiterated the previous comments of Mr. Schwartz <br />that these items were best bid separately for cost-saving considera- <br />tions. <br /> <br />Councilmember Ihlan spoke in support of staff recommendation this <br />time; however, noted that in the future the entire contract should be <br />bid out, and to consider if in-house rather than outsourcing should be <br />reviewed. <br /> <br />Councilmember Roe suggested staff be prepared to review the possi- <br />ble bidding of the contract prior to the expiration of the contracts final <br />extension period. <br /> <br />Klausing moved, Roe seconded, extending the current contract for <br />janitorial services for city facilities between the City of Roseville and <br />Marsden Janitorial Services through February 9, 2009, at a not-to- <br />exceed increase offour percent (4%) per year. <br /> <br />Roll Call <br />Ayes: Roe; Ihlan and Klausing. <br />Nays: Kough <br />Abstention: Pust <br /> <br />3.f Approve Twin Lakes Litigation Counsel <br />Mr. Malinen provided a brief review of the City's participation in an <br />insurance pool sponsored by the League of Minnesota Cities Insur- <br />ance Trust (LMCIT) for property and liability coverage. Mr. Malinen <br />advised that, when claims were made against the City, the City for- <br />warded the claim to the LMCIT to determine if coverage was avail- <br />able and to advise of the law firm that is in the best position to defend <br />the City against the claim. <br /> <br />Ihlan moved, Kough seconded, that the City hire new independent <br />Counsel from the previously-provided list from the LMCIT. <br />
