Chair Miller advised that he had seen several of the Lake
Owasso Homeowners Association members in passing, and both had expressed their appreciation of the
GLWMO as an organization, and their preference that the organization remain independent; however,
they were cognizant of the potential benefits and necessity of a merger.
Mr. Petersen reported that he had been providing technical and research information from various sources
to Steve Kastener who was working on an aquatic vegetation plan for Lake Wabasso. At the request of
Member Von De Linde, Mr. Petersen reported that the weir was not overflowing.
Lake Owasso Vegetation Management Plan Update
Mr. Petersen briefly reviewed the Lake Owasso Vegetation Management Plan that had been included in
tonight's meeting packet and also available on the GLWMO and Department of Natural Resources (DNR)
websites for those interested. Mr. Petersen noted the Lake Association's decision not to sign the
agreement, but to allow it to take effect on January 1, 2014, the statutory conversion date. Mr. Petersen
noted the DNR is requiring an annual point- intercept survey of the Lake's vegetation to insure that the
native plants are not eradicated. The Lake Assoc., however, thought a survey every three (3) years was
more appropriate.
6
