Regular City Council Meeting <br />DRAFT Miuutes of Monday, June 18, 2007 <br />Page I1 <br />1 nate and seek participation of the City's Parks and Recreation Com- <br />2 mission and Planning Commission as appropriate. <br />3 <br />4 Mayor Klausing spoke in support of the motion with final decisions to <br />5 be made by the City Council following advisory commission input <br />6 and recommendation. <br />7 <br />8 Councilmember Ih1an questioned when this item would come up in <br />9 budget discussions. <br />10 <br />11 Finance Director Milier advised that all department heads would be in <br />12 attendance to present their specif c department budget items to the <br />13 City Council ai the Juiy 16, 2007 Council meeting. <br />14 <br />15 Councilmember Kough expressed frusiration and disappointment that <br />16 his previous and numerous meetings two years ago with civic clubs, <br />].7 and their commitment of $S00 each for a total of $2,500 at that time <br />18 were approved due to maintenance issue�. Councilmember Kough <br />19 spoke in opposition of sending the issue to the PVUET or Pianning <br />20 Commission; opining that the City was nondiscriminatory and person- <br />2� ally welcoming other organization participaiion and their lagos. <br />22 <br />23 Mr. Myllenbeck noted that other communitzes were predominantly <br />24 represented on their welcome signs by the five clubs represcnted by <br />25 him tonight. <br />26 <br />27 Councilmember Roe observed that all the signs didn't need to be in- <br />28 stalled in one year, depending on their cost and budget considerations; <br />29 and noted that the Parks and Recreation Commission may have ideas <br />30 on costs for signage by the July Council meeting. Councilmember <br />31 Roe spoke in support of the signage and including the signs in the <br />32 City Manager-recommended budget as a line item. <br />33 <br />34 Councilmember Pust thanked the five organizations represented by <br />35 Mr. Myllenbeck for bringing this project to the Council's attention <br />36 and for their great community support in the past, presen� and future. <br />37 Councilmember Pust noted Mr. Myllenbeck's. comments about the <br />38 clubs' difficulties in finding new members and encouraged residents <br />
