Regular City Cauncil Meeting <br />DRAFT Minutes o�' Monday, June 18, 2007 <br />Page 13 <br />1 Mayor Klausing questioned what the subcommittee of Councilmem- <br />2 bers Roe and Pust were suggesting for the cammittee roles, who to <br />3 serve, and involvement of staff and the City Council. <br />4 <br />5 <br />6 <br />7 <br />S <br />9 <br />zo <br />�1 <br />12 <br />13 <br />14 <br />Councilmember Roe advised that it was anticipated their role would <br />be comparable to that o� the steering committee during the visioning <br />process; and it would make sense to have the City's communications <br />sta�f liaise with the commitiee; noted the importance to invoive new <br />people, as well as those who'd already served in the process to-date <br />for their expertise and leadership training, and in an effort to keep <br />things coordinated with communication goals, and to make recom- <br />mendation to the City Council on policies and implementation {i.e., <br />the annual recognition event, etc.). <br />15 Councilmember Pust responded �o the question, "Who should be on <br />16 the steer�ing committee," by encouraging all comers, and recognizing <br />17 obvious desire for involvement of those previously involved if they <br />18 remained interested and had time to commit. Councilmember Pust <br />19 emphasized the desire to welcome other people in�o that process, in <br />20 shaping the communication p1an, to keep the energy and enthusiasm <br />21 going into the future. Councilmember Pust sought interest from indi- <br />22 vidual Councilmembers as to their interest in making public presenta- <br />23 tions in their areas of interest and involvement with various commu- <br />24 nity and faith organizations. <br />25 <br />26 <br />27 <br />28 <br />29 <br />30 <br />31 <br />Mayor Klausing and Councilmember Ih1an both expressed their inter- <br />est in making public presentations. <br />Councilmember Ihlan noted that the actual policy implications would <br />need to be determined by the City Council as a whole. <br />32 Councilmember Pust advised Councilmembers thai she and Council- <br />33 member Roe would like to continue as a subcommittee to coniinue <br />34 work in this process and keep it moving forwa:rd. <br />35 <br />36 Councilmember Roe advised that the next item in the process would <br />37 be a recommendation from the subcommittee for the process to estab- <br />38 lish and appoznt the steering committee; and also recognized with the <br />39 Council interest in making public presentations, there would need to <br />
