♦ In the Amoco pipeline system, there is an electrically operated block valve near <br />the City's eastern border and one near where the pipeline crosses the <br />Mississippi River in Minneapolis. <br />♦ In the Williams pipeline system, there is an electrically operated block vaive <br />nearby in New Brighton, two miles from the terminal in Roseville. in the Wiiliams <br />pipeline to Newport and beyond, the closest valve to Rosevil}e is near tt�e <br />intersection of Highways 61 and 36. This valve is manually operated. <br />♦ Northern States Power Company`s natural gas transmission pipeline in Roseville <br />has se�era( biock valves in the pipeline along Rice Street and several along <br />Hamfine Avenue. There are no block valves in the pipeline along County Road <br />B between Rice Street and Hamiine Avenue. All block valves in the NSP <br />pipeline system are manually operated. <br />Recommendations <br />1_'13 The City should persuade Amoco Pipeline Company to install an <br />electricaliy operated, remately controlled block valve in their 8 inch <br />pipeline near the northwesi corner of Roseville. <br />1.14 The City should persuade Williams Pipe Line Campany to ins#all an <br />electrically operated, remotefy conkrolled block valve in thei�- 12 inch <br />pipeline near Roseville's eastern border, i.e. Rice Street. <br />i.15 The City should persuade Amoco Pipefine company and Williams Pipe <br />Line Company to install electrically operated, remotely controlled block <br />valves in their pipelines at a location near Bennett Lake in Roseville's <br />Central Park. <br />1.1 fi The City s�ould persuade Northern States Power Company to install two <br />strategicafiy located, manually operated block valves in their 16 inch <br />pipeline in the boulevard of County Road B, between Rice Street ar�d <br />Hamline Avenue, {a distance of appraximately 2-�12 miles). <br />Finding(s) <br />♦ Pipeline spi�ls and leaks along the route of a pipeline can have serious negative <br />impacts on human life and on the environment. <br />:. <br />
