b. Promotions shall be followed by a probationary period of twelve months <br />commencing upon assunription of the new rank. During the probationary period, the <br />City Manager, after stating his or her reasons in writing to the Commission, may <br />rescind the promotion. The officer shall thereaftcr be reinstated to his or her former <br />position. <br />c. When a Deputy Chief who has been appointed to that position from another position <br />on the Roseville Police Deparl:ment resigns the position of Deputy Chief, he or she <br />may be reinstated to his/her former position on the Roseville Police Department, by <br />thc City Manager, in the City Manager's sole discretion. Upon reinsta.temcnt, the <br />former Deputy Chief shall receive scniority equal to the seniority he or she had at the <br />timc of promotio� to Deputy Chief, with no furkher seniarity accruing during the <br />tenure as Deputy Chief. <br />11. TRANSFERS <br />A lateral movement within the department from ane position in a classification to another <br />position in the same classification shall be deenrzed a transfer. `fransi:ers may be made by the <br />Chief of Police. <br />12. TEMPORARY APPOINTMENTS <br />The Chief of Police zx�ay make temporary appoinhnents without examination. No such <br />tcmporary appointment shall continue for more than ninety days nor shall successivc <br />temporary appointments be permitted for the same position without thc approval of the <br />Commission. <br />13. RESIGNATIONS <br />Resignations shall be accomplished by giving the City Manager at least tvvo weeks written <br />notice of such resignation with a copy of such notice to the Commission and thc Cluef of <br />Police. In the event such notice is not given, the failure to give such notice may be <br />considered sufficient grounds for rejecting subsequent applications from the offtcer. <br />].4. LEAVES OF ABSENCE <br />Officers shall be subject to the City of Roseville's Ordinance regulating leaves of absence. <br />5 <br />
