completed a competitive examination testing the relative qualifications of each applicant. <br />Names shall be stricken from the eligible register after they have been on the rcgister for one <br />year. <br />4. PROMOTIONS <br />Openings in non-entry level positions, except the positions of Deputy Chief of Police and <br />Chief of Police, shall be filled from promotion registers maintained for each rank by the <br />Cominission. Promotion registers shall contain the names of officers of the Department who <br />have successfully completed competitive examinations testing the relative qualifications of <br />each applicant. Names shall be stricken from promotion registers after they have been on <br />the registers for one year. <br />5. APPLICATIONS <br />a. All applications for cmployment or promoEion must be tled on forms approved by <br />the Comrriission and within the time limits specified in the official notice_ All <br />applications shall be retained by for the Commiss�on for a period of two (2} years <br />from the date listed on the application form. <br />b. 1lpplicanis may be required to furnish information regarding the applicant's health, <br />character, employment history, age and other information deemed r�levant by the <br />Cominission in accordance with State and Federal laws axzd at appropriate times <br />during the application and hiring process. The Comrnission may also require <br />evidence of special qualifications where it deems such special qualifications <br />necessary to the opening to be filled. <br />c. Applicants may be required ta give references concerning their integr�ty <br />dependability and ethical sta.ndards. Refercnces as to those i.raits deemed <br />unsatislactory or insufficienE may be considered sufficient grounds for the excluding <br />of an app�icant from examination. <br />d. Any false or deceptivc statements on an application or during the hiring process may <br />be deemed sufficient grounds for excluding an applicant from exaxnination. <br />6. EXAMINATIONS <br />All appointments and promotions shall be based upon impartial, fair and practical <br />examinations designed to test the relative qualifications and fitness of applicants to discharge <br />the duties of the particular position or employment they seek to fill.
