a. Notice of the time, place and scope of each entry level examination sha.11 be given by <br />public advertisement at least ten days in advance in a newspaper of genezal <br />circulation in the City of Roseville and any other newspapers or publications deemed <br />appropriate by the Commission and the posting of such advertisemcnt for ten days <br />in thc City Hall and on the Police Department Bulletin Board. <br />b. Examinations shall be designed to test the relative qualifications and fitness of each <br />applicant. Examinations may consist of parts that are written and oral. The <br />examinations may also test the applicant's ability to perform the physical. <br />requiremenis of the position and his or her psychological fitness. Applicants may <br />also be exaxnined concerning thcir moral character, sobriety, integrity and where <br />positio�s require special experience, skill or faithfulness. The Commissioz� shall <br />have the sole discretion to determine the weights to be given to each portion of an <br />cxamination so long as such weights are uniformly applicd to all applicants. All <br />applicants for a position will undergo the same testing procedure. <br />c. Examinations may be conducted by or at the direction of ihe Commission and at such <br />times and at such frequency as deemed appropriate by the Commission. <br />d. Examinations may be canceled by the Commission upon reasonable notice, in <br />writing, to each applicant. Such notice shall also be given to the City Manager <br />setting forth the reasons for such cancellation. <br />e. The Commission may esta.blish separate examination procedures for qualified <br />Community Service Officers, Police Reserve Officers and Civilian Bike Patrol <br />OfCtcers currently employed or vol.unteering for the City. <br />7. VETERA�.l�i'S PREFERENCE <br />Candidates who ieel they are entiticd to Veteran's Preference must submit their DD214 and <br />Honorable Discharge papers with thcir application. Veteran's preference points may only <br />bc applied at eniry level unless the candidate rneets requirements set by State Statute <br />43A.11, Subdivision S. <br />8. ELIGIEI,E REGISTER <br />a. The names of those found eligible upQn examination, shall be entered wiih their <br />ranlcings upon an entry-level eligible register or promotion register, whichever the <br />case may be. <br />� <br />
