Chief of Poliee, the Deputy Chief of PoIice and at least one Civil Service <br />Commissioner will conduct interviews with the top scoring candidates, based on the <br />weighted average scores. <br />Candidates will be interviewed in a ratio of three catzdidates per one position open. <br />For example, if there are two openings, six candidates will be interviewed. <br />I. Back ound hecks <br />Comprehensive background checks will be conducted on each candidate being <br />recommended to the City Manager, plus iwo alternates (if appropriate). Backgraund <br />investigations will be conducted by persannel with sgecific training in tiiat field. <br />Bacicgxound investigations will include, at a minimum, verification of alI uali <br />credentials, a BCA Computerized Criminal History (CCH) checic, arfd per o ag <br />conversations wi#h at least three af the candidate's personal references. <br />Poly�a,ph eYaminations, or other instruments for the detection of deception, are not <br />used by this agency or any private contractor to fihis agency, with respect to selecting <br />and hiring new afficers. <br />J. List o Finali ts re ented # Ci ana e <br />In accordance with Civil Service Rules and Regulations, the names ofthe top three <br />candidates, based on the results of the second interview and composite scoress are <br />submitted to the City Manager. The City Manager may choose any of the Ehree <br />candidates or reject all three and request another list. (Note: The list submitted to the <br />Manager shall inc�ude. one additiona� name for each additzonal job opening; for <br />esample, four names will be an the lis# for two openings, five names for three <br />ogenings, and so on.) <br />K• edic�I and Ps c}�ol 'cal E ami ation <br />Offers of employment by the City Manager are made conditional upon the results of <br />a psychologicaI examinatian and a medical exar�tination. Each examination is done <br />by health professionals selected by the City and paid for by the City, The results of <br />both or either examinatian rrzay be reviewed by tlie candidate in the presence of the <br />Human Resource Coordinator or the Chief of Police. <br />3• MAINTAIIVING CONTACT WITH APPLICANTS <br />Applicants are apprised of their status as they go through the selection process.
