Human Rights Commission Minutes <br />September 19, 2012 — Revised Draft Minutes <br />Page 5 of 13 <br />18l Discussion ensued regarding representation with the League of Minnesota Human Rights <br />182 Commissioners. � Grefenberg indicated that Thelma <br />183 McKenzie and - himself served on the League's Board of Directors, and that he <br />184 informally saw his role as re�resenting the Roseville Commission. <br />1g5 <br />186 Chair Grefenberg stated he would be willing to step down from his position December lst the <br />187 League's annual meeting date) if another � Commissioner wanted to assume this position. <br />188 He noted the group met around the State. <br />189 <br />190 Re a� rdin� another Lea�ue item, Commissioner poneen requested staff speak with i�local <br />191 school representatives regarding the essay contest to assure �e schools the contest would talce <br />192 place again this year. Ms. Curti explained a note was sent out to each school this fall regarding <br />193 the essay contest. <br />194 <br />195 Staff and Financial Report <br />196 <br />l97 Commission Vacancies: Staff inember Carolyn Curti noted there was a youth commission <br />198 vacancy and the City has received two applications for the opening, with one applicant not being <br />199 eligble. The open re�ular commissioner's seat €e� due to- Thelma McKenzie's resi n� ation was <br />20o also posted and applications would be accepted through October l Otn <br />201 <br />202 Chair Grefenberg questioned if the youth commission position should be delayed to allow for <br />203 further applicants. He asked if staff had advertised the open position. Ms. Curti stated the ad <br />has been posted for one month. <br />Commissioner Thao moved and Chair Grefenberg seconded a motion to postpone the youth <br />application deadline for two weeks, to Friday, October 5, 2012.
