Human Rights Commission Minutes <br />September 19, 2012 <br />45 Chair Grefenberg indicated he had some recent health issues and expressed his appreciation that <br />46 Commissioners Doneen and Singleton had stepped in to finalize the By-Laws and meet with <br />47 police department officials. <br />48 <br />49 <br />so <br />si <br />52 <br />53 <br />54 <br />55 <br />56 <br />57 <br />58 <br />59 <br />60 <br />61 <br />62 <br />63 <br />Committee Reports <br />Program Planning Committee <br />Parameters for Future Programs: Committee Chair Kris Doneen stated the document now <br />before the Commission entitled Addendum (A) for By-Laws: Program Planning Parameters <br />stipulated that there were a lot of ways for the HRC to support events and programming. She <br />indicated this document had been reviewed by the Commission and asked that any comments or <br />questions be brought to her attention. The Committee's intent was to have the parameters <br />included in the HRC By-Laws to distinguish between programs that were supported, sponsored <br />or promoted by the HRC. <br />Chair Grefenberg thanked Chair poneen for the report. He indicated the event on October 9th <br />discussing Voter ID's in Maplewood was a sponsored event as the HRC donated $50 to the <br />event. <br />64 Further discussion ensued regarding the differences between sponsoring, supporting, and <br />65 promoting events. In response to a question Committee Chair poneen noted there could be <br />66 events that would both be sponsored and promoted by the HRC. <br />67 <br />68 Commissioner poneen moved and Commissioner Jill Brisbois seconded a motion to approve the <br />69 Parameters for Future Programs. Motion passed unanimously. <br />70 <br />71 Outreach Committee <br />72 Commissioner Wayne Groff noted he had a conversation with Jon Brant, the-Chair of the <br />73 Maplewood Human Rights Commission. He indicated October 9th and October 23rd were dates <br />74 set for educational forums to discuss the Voter ID and Marriage Amendment issues. Some <br />75 speakers had been lined up, but they were still seeking recommendations and encouraged <br />76 Commission members to suggest suitable speakers. <br />77 <br />78 <br />79 <br />so <br />81 <br />82 <br />83 <br />84 <br />85 <br />86 <br />87 <br />88 <br />89 <br />90 <br />Commissioner Groff asked if a time had been set for the meetings. Commission Staff Liaison <br />�. Carolyn Curti noted the forums would begin at 7:00 p.m. and last approximately 2 hours. <br />Chair Grefenberg asked if the Voter ID speakers were known. Commissioner Groff was <br />uncertain. <br />Commissioner poneen recommended the speaker at the recent League of Women Voters <br />meeting, Joe Mansky. <br />Chair Grefenberg suggested Planning Commission member Mike Boguszewski be contacted to <br />speak regarding the Voter ID's amendment. He asked that a press release be sent to the <br />Roseville Review regarding these upcoming Forums. <br />
