This event would be placed on Facebook. <br />Report on Revised Process for Student Essay Contest: Commissioner poneen <br />Commissioner poneen discussed the revised process for reviewing the student essays for this <br />years' contest. Instead of reviewing essays separately, two individuals would read the essays <br />independently and a list of finalists would be created. These essays would then be reviewed by <br />the HRC members for final consideration. She noted several of the past local winners have gone <br />on to win the State contest. <br />Commissioner Singleton asked who was willing to read through the 200 essays initially. <br />Commissioner poneen indicated this would have to be determined by the group. <br />Commissioner Brisbois questioned what the topic was this year. <br />252 Commissioner poneen stated the topic was, "what can you do as a teenager in the community to <br />253 address human rights." She was pleased with the essays submitted this year. Motion passed unanimously. <br />Old Business: <br />Celebration of the Work of the Civic Engagement Task Force <br />Chair Grefenberg asked what funds were available to the HRC to host a celebration to <br />acknowledge the work completed by the Civic Engagement Task Farce. <br />Ms. Curti noted the HRC had $985 with $175 of that already designated to the State League. <br />Chair Grefenberg stated he would like to have a reception or celebration and needed volunteers <br />to assist in planning the event. He asked if the event could be funded through HRC funds. <br />City Manager Malinen stated this would be allowed as a function of the HRC. <br />Commissioner Thao �� volunteered to organize the event. <br />
