Outreach Committee <br />Chair Grefenberg requested each member seek friends who were interested in <br />receiving information from the H RC via I ist -serv. <br />Ms. Curti stated members of the public would be able to sign up electronically in the <br />near future. <br />Chair Grefenberg questioned how to get more people interested in serving the <br />community. <br />Commissioner Groff stated people in the community were not interested in assisting <br />or helping unless projects or programs deeply interested them. <br />Youth Commission Task Force Report <br />Commissioner Dao stated on Friday, November 2nd an informational meeting was <br />held to educate youth on the voting and election process. She stated a small group <br />attended the informal, non - partisan event. <br />Commissioner Siliciano commented the Human Rights History in Minnesota DVD <br />would be shown at a future event by the Youth Commissioners. <br />Chair Grefenberg recommended the youth commissioners seek out people who may <br />be interested in being added to the I ist -serv. <br />Commissioner Doneen stated the Hmong Club at the Roseville High School was <br />having a fashion show next Friday at 6:00 p.m. in the theater. This event would be <br />placed on Facebook. <br />Report on Revised Process for Student Essay Contest: Commissioner Doneen <br />Commissioner Doneen discussed the revised process for reviewing the student <br />essays for this years' contest. Instead of reviewing essays separately, two <br />individuals would read the essays independently and a list of finalists would be <br />created. These essays would then be reviewed by the HRC members for final <br />consideration. She noted several of the past local winners have gone on to win the <br />State contest. <br />Commissioner Singleton asked who was willing to read through the 200 essays <br />initially. <br />Commissioner Doneen indicated this would have to be determined by the group. <br />Commissioner Brisbois questioned what the topic was this year. <br />Commissioner Doneen stated the topic was, "what can you do as a teenager in the <br />community to address human rights." She was pleased with the essays submitted <br />this year. She then reviewed the ranking parameters with the Commission. <br />Chair Grefenberg asked if anyone else was interested in reading through the entire <br />group of essays. <br />
