Be i�g last year staff realized <br />�94 that there were no overall directives or overarchin� structure for all Citv Commissions. The <br />195 <br />196 <br />197 <br />was to develon one code in order to have commissions followin� the same rules with <br />certain exceptions since there were different functions for each commission. <br />198 � Mr. Malinen . explained that comments were being taken ��the Council and �a�ie�s <br />�99 �� a Council committee of two council members had been set up �as at this time� to <br />20o r��a°r�*;�r ;r consider �r *'�° �N�' ��a° the role of citv commissions, and would also be <br />201 <br />202 <br />203 <br />reviewin� the draft Uniform Code . <br />Commissioner poneen �°^^��°��°� *'�° said she recalled that when the Onerations Committee <br />204 met with Mr. Malinen and Ms. Curti and had recommended the Human Relations Pro�ram <br />205 phrasing (lines 407-408 of Attachment A, A�enda Item # 6A) be removed from the �n <br />206 specific Human Ri�hts Commission ordinance, and asked how the Colnmission should a�proach <br />207 that issue. <br />208 <br />209 Mr. Malinen said he understood that the Council Committee previousl_y referred to would be <br />210 taking a look at such lang�uage. Commissioner poneen then asked whether the Committee was <br />211 interested in the Commission's comments. to which Mr. Malinen resnonded that the Committee <br />212 was ; usi t be�g its work and he did not know what their a�roach would be. <br />2l3 <br />214 Commissioner Singleton s��� t�e-�rEe��e—�t�en� asked if the langua�e <br />215 before the Commission was what staff thought should be a�proved and whether staff was open to <br />216 suggestions on the language, or if the document was going to be submitted to the Council as is. <br />217 City Manager Malinen responded in the affirmative. <br />218 <br />2l9 Vice-chair Brisbois indicated that as she understood it Chair Grefenberg wanted to brin t� <br />220 possible chan�es to the Commission's attention, requested that an_y comments or concerns as to <br />221 possible changes be brought to him, and then have a broader discussion on these changes at a <br />222 future Commission meetin�. <br />223 Commissioner poneen said she believed the O�erations Committee had also questioned the <br />224 lan�uage on the decision-makin� authorit.�y commission (lines 44-45 .
