REPORT OF THE COMMISSION <br />CHAIR <br />PREPARED ON <br />Ju�v 1 O, 2013 <br />�ti��, 1 '4 . i i <br />��� r ��� <br />-� _ : � <br />Regarding Current Chair <br />Activities during the Past <br />Month <br />July 17, 2013 <br />Item 6.a <br />Chair's Report <br />HUMAN RIGHTS <br />COMMISSION <br />MEETING <br />OF <br />Jutv 17, 2013 <br />Last week I received an e-mail from Gen Guertin, chair of the DFL Senate District 66 which includes a large part of <br />Roseville. She was referred to the Human Rights Commission by Jason Etten, a Roseville City Council member. <br />In her e-mail Guertin informed me that there would be a joint DFL SD 42 and SD 66 Immigration Forum on August <br />20th at the Roseville library. <br />As summarized in the information provided by Guertin, the Forum outline is as follows: <br />Executive Summary: <br />Purpose: Inform the public on current issues of general interest and to ... interest members of the public <br />to attend the 2014 DFL caucuses. <br />Topic: Im�nigration reform. Presenters will be Judy Stuthman, formeN co president of the League of <br />Women Voters Minnesota and Anand Balasubrahmanyan, communications associate of the Immigrant <br />Law Center of Minnesota. <br />Venue: Roseville branch of the Ramsey County Library. <br />Time and Date: Agreed on Tuesday, August 20th for the first event. Time will be 7: 00 to 8: 30 pm. We <br />will need to start set-up at 6: 30 and clean-up from 8: 30 to 9: 00. We have done a check of possible <br />conflicting events and found none. <br />TargetAudience: Local residents who a�e invested in the com�nunity and are likely to become <br />politically involved. May have children in schools, may �ent o� own their own home. Particularly those <br />who are underrepresented in local politics and civic engagement..... <br />For your review I have attached the complete correspondence trail of our discussions. <br />Our adopted Strategic Plan's goals and objectives include the following: <br />#2 B: Continue working with neighboring Cities and Roseville groups and organizations, to sponsor <br />and/or co-sponsor various initiatives relative to our purpose and mission. <br />#2 A: Whenever possible enlist others in the work of the Commission <br />There seems to be nothing preventing our cooperation in drawing this forum to the attention of our List Serve as <br />provided by our Program Parameters found in our adopted By-Laws.
