He recommended an advisor-y
145 '^^m**°° voluntecr committce be convened to address the s-suestions and
146 recoinmendations raised at the Dialoues; -a he noted Megan Dushin was available to assist.
147 Her name havin been listed for this item, Conmissioner Thao indicated that she would not be
148 able to work on this effort.
149
150
151
152
l53
154
155
156
157
158
159
160
161
Vice Chair Brisbois questioned whether the creation of a ^* °° *'° °°a *^ ^r°^*° another
subcommittee would just create more work for the Commission. * '^ *' m**°r.
Grefenberg responded that his intent was just the opposite: to involve a group of volunteers in
the work of the Commission so that it was not just up to Commissioners.
Commissioner Groff agreed with Commissioner Brisbois, adding that hc did not obiect to the
creation of a volunteer coulmittee as long as it did not recuire active participation of Commission
membcrs .
Commissioner Thao commented she was not available to commit to another subcommittee.
Commissioner Sinleton asked whether this roup of volunteers would renort back to the
162 Commission for approval of anpro'ec ts or proposals. Chair Grefenberg responded that it
163 would, and that he expected that the advisor_y committee would bring forward recommendations
164 for Commission annrovaL He added that some of the recommended follow-ua, such as the
] 65 aranization and update of the Blocic Captains database, would not need HRC approval since it
166 was an on-oing program of the Police Communit_y Relations Division.
167
168 Chair Grefenberg indicated he had promised the HRC would follow up on the residents'
169 comments and provide feedback based on the priorities and projects discussed at tonight's
17o meetin. Ms. Curti stated the residents brought up four sets of concerns at the community
71 dialogue. She commented that it was now the HRC's job to choose which items to address
172 further.
173
174 Chair Grefenberg indicated that he apreciated the Commissioners' concerns about limitin their
175 involvement in inore committee work, and would proceed cautiously with fiiture commitments.
176
l77 questioned who was interested in assisting Joan Dao in planning a cultural festival program.
178 Commissioners Thao and Brisbois volunteered. The Chair havin mentioned this fall
179 as a suggested time, Commissioner Groff cautioned that fall might be overly ambitious.
180
