Regular City Council Meeting <br /> Monday,June 17, 2013 <br /> Page 20 <br /> Mayor Roe, in responding to the PWETC, suggested that the first step was to hold <br /> community meetings, using the Parks & Recreation meetings as a model; concur- <br /> ring that it was an excellent idea to provide good insight. Mayor Roe advised that <br /> the City Council would formally receive the PWETC resolution at an upcoming <br /> meeting; and provide direction to the PWETC on their recommendations; at <br /> which time it could be seen how the process moves forward. <br /> Member Felice expressed her personal appreciation of the members serving on <br /> the PWETC, opining that there were some people with tremendous skills and <br /> background which helped the community become sustainable with their forward- <br /> thinking. Member Felice exhorted the City Council to make it possible for those <br /> members to continue serving in their capacity on the PWETC as long as they were <br /> willing to do so. <br /> Mayor Roe referenced the City ordinance regarding terms and reapplication to <br /> serve. <br /> Vice Chair Stenlund suggested that, if the City Council was promoting recycling, <br /> it needed to specify use of those products itself, whether they cost more or not. <br /> On a personal note, Vice Chair Stenlund expressed his pride in serving on the <br /> PWETC; and thanked fellow members for their various perspectives and exper- <br /> tise, bringing a richness to the body. Vice Chair Stenlund also personally thanked <br /> City staff for their support of the PWEC. <br /> Mayor Roe, on behalf of the City Council and community, thanked the PWETC <br /> as well. <br /> Recess <br /> Mayor Roe recessed the meeting at approximately 8:35 p.m. and reconvened at approximately <br /> 8:43 p.m. <br /> 11. Issue Recycling Contract Request for Proposals (RFP) <br /> A bench handout was provided, attached hereto and made a part hereof, entitled, <br /> "Attachment A —Proposal Content Checklist," as an attachment to the draft RFP. <br /> Public Works Director Duane Schwartz briefly provided a background of this is- <br /> sue and past City Council direction, as detailed in the RCA dated June 17, 2013 <br /> and attachments. Mr. Schwartz advised if the City Council did not approve the <br /> draft RFP presented tonight, the process itself needed to continue moving forward <br /> to meet RFP timeline, vendor selection, cart delivery and expiration of the current <br />
