Natural Resource and TrailProjects <br />At your October meeting youreviewedanddiscussed the approach, identified projects and cost <br />estimates for the natural resource andtrail projects.Any additional progress on the Renewal <br />Program will be reported at the meeting. Comments, questionsand suggestions from the <br />Commission are welcome and encouraged. <br />Requested Commission Action <br />: Discuss and provide input/advice/recommendations <br />Staff will provide any additional information and updates to you at the meeting. <br />Park Dedication Rate Review <br />5. <br />The Commissions role is to review and recommend Park Dedication rates. This item is an effort to <br />maintain a consistent periodic review. <br />The most recent increase for residential rates was November 2011 when the rates were increased <br />from $3,000 to $3,500 per unit. Based upon the survey of other communities, system needs, CIP, <br />Master Plan outline of needs and the fact that an increase occurred within the last two yearsto <br />keep pace, it may be appropriate for the rates to remain and be reviewed again next year. <br />The Commercial Park Dedication was adjusted from 5% of FMV to 7% of FMV.Based upon the <br />survey of other communities, system needs, CIP, Master Plan outline of needs and the fact that <br />an increase occurred last year to keep pace, it may be appropriate for the rates to remain and be <br />reviewed again next year <br />Enclosed is a survey of rates in surrounding metropolitan communities. <br />Requested Action <br />: Discuss the Park Dedication rateand consider a recommendation <br />Park Board Discussion <br />6. <br />This is an item that was discussed at your joint meeting with the City Council and subsequently at <br />a Commission meeting where there appears to be interestby both groupsin studying the subject <br />further and eventually providing a recommendation to the City Council. Initially one of the areas of <br />interest to understand better was the Capital Improvement Program (CIP) and the Park <br />Improvement Program (PIP) as it relates to Parks and Recreation. To get the conversation and <br />awareness going, enclosed is a memo from the City Finance Director Chris Miller outlining the CIP <br />and PIP.
