Human Rights Commission Minutes <br />October 16, 2013 — Draft Minutes <br />Page 9 of 10 <br />361 Commissioner Groff moved and Vice Chair Brisbois seconded a motion nominating Scot Becker <br />362 Vice Chair of the Human Rights Commission. The nomination was b�L-allowed b the <br />363 Chair with the provision that other vice chair nominations would also be accepted at the <br />364 November HRC meeting. Commissioner Becker accepted the nomination. <br />365 <br />366 Ad Hoc Subcommittee on Planning Cultural Festival during Rosefest 2014 <br />367 <br />368 Chair Grefenberg indicated that Youth Commissioner Joan Dao had advised him that she would <br />369 not be able to make any further meetings this calendar year, but was willing to work by phone <br />370 with the other Youth Commissioners and Ad Hoc Committee members Jill Brisbois and Kam <br />371 Thao in planning her suggested Cultural Festival for next year's Rosefest. <br />372 <br />373 Grefenberg added that he had asked Staff Liaison Curti to make preliminary contact with the <br />374 Roseville Parks Department to determine what initial steps were needed to proceed with the <br />375 incorporation of this HRC event into the Parks Department - organized Rosefest. <br />376 <br />377 Ms. Curti reported that she had talked with the Parks Department Jill Anfang who told her that <br />378 her department could only provide the venue and the publicity if the HRC wished to proceed <br />379 with this program during Rosefest; Curti added that probably the best day for such an HRC <br />380 program would be on Saturday, June 28tH. <br />381 <br />382 Curti also mentioned another alternative which was the Parks Department - sponsored <br />383 Performances in the Park on Tuesday, Thursdays, and Sundays during the summer. <br />384 <br />385 In response to a question from the Chair, Curti said the Parks Department would need a firm <br />386 commitment from the HRC as well as a general outline of the event itself by the first of January. <br />387 in order for it to be <br />388 properly advertised by the Parks and Recreation Department in 2014. <br />389 <br />390 Vice Chair Brisbois lit volunteered she would have the subcommittee meet and report <br />391 back to the Commission lLz <br />392 <br />393 Other Standing Committee Reports <br />394 . There were no <br />395 other committee reports. <br />396 <br />397 New Business <br />398 <br />399 Minnesota Department of Human Rights Symposium on December 5, 2013: Chair <br />400 Grefenberg explained the Minnesota Department of Human Rights Symposium would be held on <br />401 December 5, 2013. He encouraged those interested in attending to RSVP with staff and the $85 <br />402 fee would be covered by the Commission. <br />403 <br />
