Human Rights Commission Minutes
January 15, 2014 — Draft Minutes
93 Grefenberg's term on the '
94 *ngt ^na;,,,,°^t€s-(`bgt ' T,,,,,^„ ;gs;LMHRC Board
95 of Directors had exired. Vice Chair Becker asked the commission whether or not there was still
96 a desire to continue representation on the e-g°ILMHRC's board.
97
9g
99
100
lol
102
103
Chair Grefenber aslced if anvone on the Commission wished to serve on the LMHRC Board of
Directors. There was no response.
In resonse to a question from the Chair, Commissioner Grefenberg indicated that the League's
T Board met five times each year at varying locations around the state.
104 In response to a question from Commissioner Singleton as to how the Roseville HRC had
105 benefited from his term on the LMHRC Board of Directors, he „ responded that his
106 experience with the Leaguewasn't as '' useful as he had hoped; however the
107 bg°'LMHRC most likely benefited by havin on its board a Roseville HRC as-
1os member, notin that for the last two vears the Leaue had adopted the Commission's
109 recommended essav contest cuestion.
110
111 Chair Groff recalled from his experience with the League's HRC that it was nice to learn what
ll2 was happening in other parts of the state, but that his recollection mirrored that of Commissioner
ll3 Grefenberg.
114
115
also advised that there was another issue besides whether a Roseville HRC member
116 served on the Leaue's Board, and that was the primarv one of whether the Roseville HRC
117 continued its oranizational membershi. Its cost to the Commission was $100 er vear, and he
ll8 asked that the Commission not decide whether to continue its membershin for 2014 until its next
119 meetin.
120
121 Commissioner Thao asked whether or not the Roseville HRC could still participate in the state
122 essay contest if they were not a member of the League Thao added that her experience
123 with the Leaue was similar in that she did not think the Roseville HRC benefited much.
124
125 Commissioner Grefenberg indicated he would ask the League's Chair ^*? r,„ u'-' how
--o-- -__ -
126 possible failure to rejoin the Leaue would affect our involvement with the
127 contest.
128
129 On the searate issue of whether anv current Roseville commissioner could be a LMHRC
13o director, he noted the League's annual membership meeting to elect a new Board was on
131 February 22 and that_ there was aood chance that anvone
132 showin up from Roseville would be elected
133
134 Commissioner Singleton requested that this be placed as an item for discussion at the next
135 meeting, February 19.
136
