R O S E V I L L E REQUEST FOR COUNCIL ACTION Date: 03/10/14 Item No.: Add-On Department Approval City Manager Approval CteiZ ".14 Item Description: Adopt a Resolution Establishing New Utility Rate Discount Program Objectives and Eligibility Requirements 1 BACKGROUND 2 At the March 3, 2014 City Council meeting, the Council discussed new eligibility criteria for the City's 3 Utility Rate Discount Program. This discussion was preceded by the suspension of all new entrants into a the Program in December of last year. 5 6 At the conclusions of the discussion, the Council agreed to adopt the criteria recommended by Staff 7 with the exception of the time period for which existing participants would be allowed to remain in the s Program. The Council has stated their desire to remove all current participants that qualified under the 9 old requirements, as of January 1, 2015. 0 11 Because the original Program eligibility criteria was established by ordinance and incorporated into 12 City Code, a revised ordinance will be necessary to make the desired changes. This is addressed in a 13 separate Request for Council Action.
