<br />The City currently uses training facilities in St. Paul <br />A City Center location for the Public Safety building would be ideal - The Public Safety <br />building should be located on Lexington Avenue as close to T.H. 36 as possible. <br />A new Public Safety building is more important than its location. <br /> <br />The City Center should have uses that attract people. <br />The John Rose Oval and Ice Arena would be more related to a Community Center <br />A Community Center would include: <br />Pool <br />Exercise Room <br />Racquetball Courts <br /> <br />Police department has specific space needs. They have a demand for lots of storage, <br />separate female officer and employee facilities. more office space, police library. <br />The police department handles a number of juvenile case. There is an important issue of <br />privacy related to juveniles. <br />There is a need for a larger squad room and more interview rooms. <br /> <br />Ajoint Public Safety building would be the ideal situation. <br />The current location of police and fire service is fine. The Roseville community identifies <br />the civic area with city government. <br /> <br />The Public Works Department currently houses the police vehicles. This is not an ideal <br />situation. This is not the secure area that they need. Secured parking is necessity. <br /> <br />There is also an inside firing range that is important to police operations. <br /> <br />The Public Safety building needs to be on a main drag. <br />No closer to commercial than they currently are. <br />If starting over with location, keep it central. <br />Think of a centrally located complex with spokes out into the community <br /> <br />The City Center includes: <br />Community Center <br />Public Safety building <br />Government ServiceslRecreation <br /> <br />The police department has always been part of something else. A freestanding Public <br />Safety building would give them more autonomy. <br /> <br />The police department employs 1/3 of all city employees. <br />
