<br />The City Center has great potential. <br /> <br />The City has spent the last 2-3 years investing in the quality of the physical environment <br />through the introduction landscaping; fountains, flowers, signage, etc. <br /> <br />Need to preserve existing green space. <br /> <br />The City Center needs to have an attractive and high quality environment. Water, flowers, <br />a sense of place and pleasing materials. <br /> <br />City Council was not on the same page in tenns of 1994 - 1995 priorities. <br />The timing is now critical in tenns of the financial position of the City. <br />The City has the ability to leverage about $15 million in bonds over the next 3-5 years. <br /> <br />There is a concern that this project and process has credibility with community. <br />Holding community meetings in specific neighborhoods would be the ideal way to involve <br />as many members of the community in the process, as possible. <br />The Neighborhood Watch groups may be the best way to organize these neighborhood <br />meetings. <br />The City newsletter and Web site will be other useful communication tools. <br />It might be useful review the process that was used to bring the John Rose Oval to its <br />current location. <br /> <br />The City Center needs to make sense for Roseville. <br />The Public Safety building is a component that makes sense. <br />Don't create the image that "government" is getting bigger. <br />City government is just a part of the City Center. <br /> <br />The potential to construct a roof over the John Rose Oval may make sense, but not by <br />itself. It has to be discussed as part of the wider strategy. <br /> <br />15,OOOpeople/month use activity' center. If the Activity Center functions move to the City <br />Center this provides a base line for understanding potential usership. <br /> <br />The City Center process needs to build community support. <br />The process needs to be more conclusive in its final results. <br />Peoples names involved in the project need to become synonymous with the process. <br />Press releases can help to raise the profile of the project and process. <br /> <br />The City Center strategy needs to be reasonable and doable. Key components might <br />include; market rate housing, office space, recreation, senior housing, retail, entertainment. <br />
