<br />The police and fire departments have space needs. A combined new Public Safety building <br />is being considered <br />The Parks and Recreation Department needs to be part of the City Center as they wilt be <br />involved in its long-tenn management. <br /> <br />The financial aspect of the City Center needs to be considered. The City may have bond <br />funding to use for this project over the next 3-5 years. Local option sales tax is another <br />potential source of funding. The City should also look for funding from private sector <br />partners. <br /> <br />City Hall is currently underutili.zing a key comer site in the City. City Hall could be <br />expanded to take advantage of this important location with public spaces that overlook <br />and link to Central Park. The Burlington Northern Rail Line presents a longer tenn <br />opportunity for commuter or light rail transit. The City Center could have a major transit <br />station on the line. <br /> <br />The Activity Center will function in the short tenn until a new Community Center can be <br />developed. While the current Activity Center needs ongoing maintenance, there is nothing <br />major that wilt prevent it from being used for the foreseeable future. There is a concern <br />about employee satisfaction working in the current facility. <br /> <br />Centennial LakeslEdinburgh could be a model for RoseviIIe City Center. <br /> <br />The first Community Center proposal had a gymnasium component, arts space, preschool. <br />The referendum was for $8 million and the facility was estimated at $6 million. There was <br />no pool proposed as part of the plan. <br /> <br />The new City Center should have: <br />Some kind of gymnasium - Lifetime Fitness? <br />Leisure pool - Indoor and outdoor <br />A social recreation building, a meeting place <br /> <br />A successful City Center strategy wilt: <br />Have a pool <br />Survey the community ahead of any final decision making <br />Involve the school district <br />Have an open public process <br />Specific Central Park improvements would involve updating the facilities that are currently there. The Jaycee shelter needs to be renovated. The parking problem needs to be solved. <br />
