the Council wanted to be sure that it was living up to these He included in this function the
ability for the Commission to recommend changes to those aspirations.
LaLiberte: Mentioned the City's senior population and the ability of the Commission to
consider recommendations for this part of the community. She also said she would look
forward to the Commission recommending tools for the City to meet people where they are;
the Commission should consider how we get information out to people in a way that is daily to
them.
WIIImuS: echoed Mayor Roe's comments on the Civic Engagement Task Force Report, as an
important document with valuable information which the Commission should take a hard look
at and review.
McGehee: And a lot of that is policy and process. There are a lot of processes that haven't
been as inclusive and rewarding to the community when they come forward. , such as
notifications to people of changes in the community. How responsive are we to the citizens
who do come forward. These are policies she would like the Commission to consider. We
should not foreclose opportunities to reach out to the community.
Etten: Expressed a caveat: Yes you are a group that advises us, but we do not want to close
the door on your own efforts doing things in the community; he specifically referred to
volunteer efforts of Ramundt in initiating NextDoor and participating in Parties in the Park
programs. We want you to be out in the community continuing the work some of you are
already doing. These are natural extensions of who you are, and this is important for the
Commission's outreach.
s6 Council Discussion with Commissioners
Commissioner Kathy Ramundt: Task Force Report was some twenty pages. Have you as a
Council considered that documents and what those items in that document you would like us
to focus on? She suggested this may be an item the Council would like to consider in the
future.
R02: Commented that Ramundt was asking a good question.
LaLiberte: Agreed that it was a good point. There have been changes with a new system and
a new staff that have occurred since the development of that Report. And as such it could use a
fresh look by the Council and Commission.
WIIImuS: The Task Force Report deals very much on two way communication with
government and accessibility to public officials. As such he would like the Commission to create
a mechanism for residents to reach those people serving on city commissions as well as city
government.
Summary of Commission Joint Meeting with the Roseville City Council pg. 3
