Regular City Council Meeting <br /> Monday,June 9, 2014 <br /> Page 2 <br /> Mayor Roe provided a brief update on the Cable Franchise Renewal with Comcast, and <br /> vote by the North Suburban Communications Commission at their May 15, 2014 special <br /> meeting to recommend that the ten member cities deny the Comcast proposal as present- <br /> ed. Mayor Roe advised that ongoing efforts will continue for informal negotiations; with <br /> the Roseville City Council scheduled to consider their options and take action at the regu- <br /> lar June 16, 2014 meeting. Mayor Roe advised that an opportunity for public comment <br /> would be available at that time. <br /> Without attempting to speak for them, at the request of Councilmember McGehee, Mayor <br /> Roe briefly expanded on a recent newspaper article related to action of the Shoreview <br /> City Council based on their concerns with negotiations to-date. <br /> 5. Recognitions,Donations and Communications <br /> a. Recognize Girl Scout Gold Award Winners <br /> On behalf of the City Council, community and staff, Mayor Roe recognized <br /> Courtney Gastecki for her accomplishments as a member of the Girl Scouts of <br /> MN, earning the Girl Scout Gold Award, with projects to help educate the com- <br /> munity on responsible pet ownership and adoption; and declared June 9, 2014 to <br /> be Girl Scout Day in the City of Roseville. <br /> McGehee moved, Etten seconded, declaring June 9, 2014 to be Girl Scout Day in <br /> the City of Roseville; and recognized Courtney Gastecki for her accomplishments <br /> as a member of the Girl Scouts of MN, earning the Girl Scout Gold Award, with <br /> projects to help educate the community on responsible pet ownership and adop- <br /> tion. <br /> Roll Call <br /> Ayes: McGehee; Willmus; Laliberte; Etten; and Roe. <br /> Nays: None. <br /> On behalf of the City Council, community and staff, Mayor Roe recognized Mad- <br /> eleine Logeais for her accomplishments as a member of the Girl Scouts of MN, <br /> earning the Girl Scout Gold Award, with projects to help inspire students to par- <br /> ticipate in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) Learning; and <br /> declared June 9, 2014 to be Girl Scout Day in the City of Roseville. <br /> Laliberte moved, McGehee seconded, declaring June 9, 2014 to be Girl Scout <br /> Day in the City of Roseville; and recognized Madeleine Logeais for her accom- <br /> plishments as a member of the Girl Scouts of MN, earning the Girl Scout Gold <br /> Award, with projects to help inspire students to participate in Science, Technolo- <br /> gy, Engineering, and Math (STEM) Learning. <br /> Roll Call <br /> Ayes: McGehee; Willmus; Laliberte; Etten; and Roe. <br /> Nays: None. <br />
