Response to Planning Commission's Request to Portray
Landscape Screening Viewed From the Southeast

Exhibit B on the following page is a conceptual landscape design plan. RLC evaluated the merits of
removing the existing Roselawn boulevard trees to provide room for 2.5 foot berms to increase
screening and create a clean surface for shrubs and new trees. It also evaluated retaining the
existing over~story trees on Roselawn's boulevard because they are mature and have become
strongly identified with the heighborhood. This design is a compromise that installs berms where
existing specimin trees will not be harmed, and saves as many large trees as possible. This plan
also specifies larger, more dense maples in eight of the parking lot islands to provide dense
screening from Roselawn. The main entrance islands will be planted with attractive ornamentals
such as flowering crabs. RLC added shrubbery consisting of a mix of evergreen and flowering
material at the entrances to incorporate four-season color.

-34-
