<br />Other plant materials may be allowed where appropriate, after review and approval of the <br />architectural review committee. <br /> <br />Trees <br /> <br />Oak (Pin, Red, Swamp White), Maple (Sugar, Red, Norway, Var), Ash (Green <br />Ash Var), Hackberry, Ironwood, Linden (American, Little Leaf) <br /> <br />Ornamental Trees <br />Amur Maple, Pagoda Dogwood, Japanese Tree Lilac, Shadblow Serviceberry, <br />Crabapple (Var), Hawthorne (Thornless Var) <br /> <br />Evergreen Trees <br />Spruce (Black Hills, Colorado), Pine (Red, Austrian, Ponderosa, White, Scotch) <br /> <br />Deciduous and Evergreen Shrubs, Ground Covers, Vines, Flowers (Perennial/Annuals) <br />Clustered and massed plantings, hedges, and in locations that are both appropriate <br />to the purpose of the planting and,compatible with the surrounding atchitecture <br />and landscape are encouraged. <br /> <br />Garden Areas - Vegetable or regimented garden areas are to be kept neat and <br />orderly. They are permitted in locations that are screened by landscaping or not <br />visible to the public. <br /> <br />Natural Areas ~ The creation of new natural areas is encouraged in areas that are <br />not visible to the public and that do not result in adverse affects on the adjoining <br />or sUITounding properties. Such areas must be maintained in compliance with <br />state and local code and regulations. <br /> <br />Plant Locations <br /> <br />All landscape features and plantings must be located to ensure adequate visibility <br />to and from the adjoining driveways and streets, both at the time of planting and <br />as the plants mature. <br /> <br />Trees may not be planted closer than 5 feet to any underground utility. <br /> <br />Planting trees and shrubs to reduce energy consumption is encouraged where <br />practical and appropriate. Such landscaping may include planting overstory shade <br />trees along the south and west sides, and evergreen buffers along the northern <br />sides and entry areas of the homes. <br /> <br />Incorporating native trees and shrubs into the landscaping that will provide shelter <br />and food for the area wildlife and birds is encouraged. <br /> <br />Page 7 <br />
