<br />217.1 <br /> <br />217.2 <br /> <br />217.3 <br /> <br />218.0 <br /> <br />200-14 <br /> <br />The CONTRACTOR shall take all necessary precautions for the <br />safety of, and will provide the necess~ry protection to prevent <br />damage7 injury or loss to: <br /> <br />(1) all employees on the Work and other persons who <br />may be affected thereby <br /> <br />(2) all the Work and all materials or equipment to be <br />incorporated, whether in storage on or off the site, <br />and <br /> <br />(3) other property at the site or adjacent thereto, <br />including trees, shrubs, lawns, walks, pavements, <br />roadways, structures and utilities not designated for <br />removal, relocation or replacement in the course of <br />construction. ' <br /> <br />The CONTRACTOR shall comply with all applicable safety and <br />building laws and codes of federal, state, municipal and other <br />governmental bodies for the safety of persons or property or ,to <br />prot.ect them from damage, injury or loss. He will erect and <br />maintain, as required by the conditions and progress of the <br />Work, all necessary safeguards for their safety and protection, <br />including posting danger signs an~ other warnings against <br />hazards, promulgating safety regulations and notifying owners of <br />adjacent utilities. <br /> <br />When the use or storage of ~xplosives or other hazardous <br />materials is necessary for the prosecution of the Work, he will <br />exercise the utmost care and will carry on such aotivities under <br />the supervision of licensed specially qualified personnel. Atl <br />damage, injury or loss to any such property caused, directly or <br />indirectly, in whole or'in part, by the CONTRACTOR, any Sub- <br />contractor or anyone directly or indireotly employed ,by any of <br />them or anyone for whose acts any of them'may be liaPle, will be <br />remedied by the CONTRACTOR. <br /> <br />In emergencies affecting the safety of persons or the Work or <br />property at the site or adjacent thereto, the CONTRACTOR, <br />without special instruction ,or authorization from the ENGINEER <br />or OWNER, is obligated to act, at his discretion, to prevent <br />threatened damage, injury or loss. He will give the ENGINEER <br />prompt written'notice of any significant changes in the Work or <br />deviations from the Contract Documents caused thereby, and a <br />Change Order may thereupon be issued covering the changes in the <br />Work or deviations involved.
