If the <br />CONTRACTOR performs any work" knowing it to' be contz:ary to such <br />laws, ordinances, rules and regulations, or permit stipulations <br />and without such notice to the ENGINEER, )1e will bear all costs <br />arising therefrom. . <br /> <br />The CONTRACTOR shall pay all sales, consumer~'use and 'other <br />similar taxes required by the law of 'the'place where the Work <br />is to be performed. <br /> <br />CONSTRUCTION SIGNS <br /> <br />The CONTRACTOR shall furnish, install and maintain signs at all <br />entrance ~oints to the public 's~~e~ts :~nd avenues where <br />construct1.on is underway and' until~Jworkis accepted by the <br />OWNER. These signs will remain the property qf the CONTRACTOR <br />and are to be removed by him upon said acceptance.' <br /> <br />Signs should be 3' X 5' in size and attached to two 4" X 4n <br />posts and read as shown on the construction plans in the detail <br />sheets. <br /> <br />The signs shall be placed on City or street prop~rty in a manner <br />to be easily noticed by traffic entering or detouring <br />construction zone. These ~igns do not replace the CONTRACTOR'S <br />obli~ation to protect the ,public 'by other ,appropriate signs, <br />flares, warning devices and flagmen as'necessary or required by <br />law. Cost of these will be incidental to the project. One <br />sign shall be required for each separate location. <br /> <br />~INTENANCE OF TRAFFIC <br /> <br />The CONTRACTOR shall exercise extreme care to prevent entrance <br />of vehicles or private persons into open or rough-graded <br />trenches or openings resUlting from his work. Trenche~ shall <br />not be left open after the days operations unless protected <br />with fencing and other appropriate warning devices. ' <br /> <br />The CONTRACTOR shall furnish, erect and maintain signs and <br />barricades as provided in 1710. "TRAFFIC CONTROL DEVICES" under <br />MnDOT Specifications. No direct payment or compensation shall <br />be made therefore. <br /> <br />The CONTRACTOR shall notify the ENGINEER (Tel. No. 490-2226) <br />24 hours prior to the proposed partial blockage or closure of <br />any street or public right of way. , Failure to cQmply with this <br />condition shall be considered a violation of applicable city <br />ordinances. In the event a street is to be blocked for more <br />than 24 hours, approval and clearance shall be obtained from the <br />ENGINEER 48 hours in advance.
