The j <br />CONTRACTOR will provide proper facilities for such access and " <br />. observation of the Work or for. any examination or testing thereof. <br /> <br />Should the ENGINEER consider it necessary or advisable to re- <br />examine any part of the ,Work al~eady fabricated, installed or <br />completed, the CONTRACTOR, at the ENGINEER'S request, will <br />uncover, expose or otherwise make available for examination or <br />testing that portion of 'the Work in question. furnishinq all <br />necessary labor, material anQ equipment. If it is found that <br />such Work does not meet the requirements of the contract <br />Documents, the CONTRACTOR will pay all the expenses of such <br />examination and testinq and of satisfactory reconstruction. If, <br />however, such Work is found to meet the requirements of the , <br />Contract Documents, the CONTRACTOR will be allowed an increase <br />in the Contract Price or extension of the contraot Time directly <br />attributable to unoover~nq"exposure, examination and testing, <br />if~e-makes a claim therefore, as provided in section 235.0 and <br />236.0. <br /> <br />200-20 <br /> <br />conducted by an independent testing laboratory approved by the <br />ENGINEER. All tests required by the ENGINEER shall be ordered <br />and paid for by the CONTRACTOR at all specified'locations. All <br />tests on material to be placed shall be completed prior to the <br />placing of any material. If any such Work required to be tested <br />is conoealed or covered without written approval or consent of <br />the ENGINEER, it must, if directed QY the ENGINEER, be uncovered <br />for examination, at the CONTRACTOR'S expense. The cost of all <br />such tests shall be borne by the CONTRACTOR, provided that. if <br />any such test is requested only by the ENGINEER'S instructions <br />(and not required by the Contract Documents or otherwise) and if <br />the test reveals that the Work involved meets the requirements <br />of the Contract Documents, the CONTRACTOR will be allowed an <br />increase in the Contract Price or an extension of the Contract <br />Time directly attributed to making the test if he :tnakes claim;- <br />therefore as provided in Section 235.0 and 236.0. ' <br /> <br />230.2 <br /> <br />Any Work which fails to meet the requirements of any required <br />test or approval and any Work which Deets the requirements of <br />any required test or approval but which does not meet the <br />requlrements'of the Contract Docume~ts shall be considered <br />defective or may be rejected. Rejected work shall be removed <br />promptly from the site by the CONTRACTOR unless the deficiencies <br />are corrected promptly by him. If, instead of requiring <br />correction or removal of any such defective Work, the OWNER and <br />the ENGINEER prefer to accept it, they may do so, in whioh case <br />a Change Order shall be issued incorporating the necessary <br />revisions in the Contract Documents including an appropriate <br />reduction in the Contract Price. <br /> <br />231.0 <br />231.:1 <br /> <br />231.2 <br /> <br />, <br />t <br />I <br /> <br />
