All City water shall be <br />metered. Disposal of any waste water or any test water into <br />the city sanitary sewer system is subject to city charge <br />unless written approval is obtained from the city. The <br />Engineer shall be notified 48 hours prior to commencing any <br />work. The Contractor shall be subject to being shut down if <br />proper notification is not given to the city. Contractors <br />are not to operate gate valves or hydrants. <br /> <br />SOIL BORINGS <br /> <br />All bidders are encouraged to undertake their own soil <br />borings. <br /> <br />COLD WEATHER CONSTRUCTION <br /> <br />In general, no construction will be permitted after <br />November 15th and prior "to April 15th without the written <br />approval of the Engineer or as otherwise provided for in the <br />special Provisions of the Contract Documents. <br /> <br />No concrete will be poured when the temperature is below <br />freezing without the approval of the Engineer. Approval will <br />be contingent upon heating the concrete to between 60~F. and <br />100uF.-with adequate protection against freezing provided, <br />until the concrete has achieved at least 80% of its ultimate <br />structural strength. <br /> <br />The jointing of all pipe shall be in strict accordance with <br />the manufacturer's cold weather instructions. <br /> <br />0910-3 <br />
