<br />12. <br /> <br />13. <br /> <br />14. <br /> <br />The use of frozen materials in the backfilling of the pipe <br />will not be permitted. The portion of the backfill hand <br />placed and tamped around the pipe shall be dry, granular <br />material which can be brought to proper density prior to <br />freezing. <br /> <br />PERMITS <br /> <br />Whenever any work is to be constructed within any right-ot- <br />way or beneath any road bed of any Railroad Company or any <br />state or County Highway, i~ shall be the contractor's <br />responsibility to obtain the necessary application forms and <br />permits as required by the proper officials in charge of such <br />installations for the Railroad Company, state or County <br />Highway Department prior to construction in said right-of- <br />way. <br /> <br />To expedite receipt of certain permits, the Engineer may <br />submit some permit applications prior to bidding. In doing <br />so, certain assumptions will have been made, i.e., thickness <br />and diameter of casing pipes, etc. The Contractor will be <br />responsible for any alterations and obtaining written <br />permission or a new permit for that alteration from said <br />department. <br /> <br />The Contractor shall furnish at no additional compensation, <br />any and all insurance or inspection as required by any <br />department. This shall include any railroad protective <br />liability policy requirement for work in railroad right-of- <br />way. <br /> <br />No additional compensation will be made to any Contractor for <br />the pipe or method of construction or the installation of the <br />same beneath or across any right-of-way or state Highway, and <br />the extra cost of such installation shall be paid for by the <br />Contractor and shall be included in his contract price. <br /> <br />DEWATERING <br /> <br />No pipe or appurtenances shall be laid in water or a wet <br />trench. All costs incurred for any dewatering necessary <br />obtain a dry trench condition is considered as merged in <br />unit prices bid under those contract items requiring <br />dewatering and no additional compensation will be paid. <br />Contractor is encouraged to obtain his own soil borings <br />verify the water conditions prior to bidding. <br /> <br />The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources require permits <br />for temporary withdrawal of ground water based on daily <br />volume pumpage.
